It is done.
I have permanently scarred my leg with a fucking amazing tattoo. Yes it’s on my leg so I’m bound to be a tad biased, but I couldn’t be happier with it and Flo Nuttall’s amazing work.
Let me take you back to the 5th of February *insert magical wooshy noises and glitter*
This is how my leg has been for 25 and a half years. Plain and uninteresting. Today I changed that. Be prepared to have your mind blown with some super insightful tweets.
So tattoos hurt.

It’s also odd to have someone so close to your crotch stabbing you with tiny, tiny needles

My tweets throughout the day speak for themselves; it wasn’t a comfortable experience. Imagine someone running a very sharp pair of tweezers or a slightly blunt scissors over your leg and you get the idea. Plus I’m a complete fidget, so staying still for 3 hours was tricky.
Yes it’s big for my first tattoo. Yes it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But here’s why I got it:
– Smith & Wesson .455 revolver is my dad’s favourite gun,
– Roses are one of my mum’s favourite flowers (she loves lilies but they remind me of funerals and death…),
– I had canaries throughout my childhood,
– And the open door is kinda the sappy part. It’s for always being free and to remind myself to take chances. The door is always open; you’ve just got to turn the handle.
So I present to you my messed up (and unfinished) family portrait:
